Home & Community Based Services
Visiting Nurse Services
Services are available for any patient who is permanently or temporarily confined to his or her place of residence because of a medical or health condition. Skilled nursing services include:
- Help managing your medications
- Care coordination
- Assist with managing symptoms related to acute or chronic illness
- Catheter cares
- Wound care
- IV hydration
- IV medication administration
- Home safety screening
- Referrals for home and community-based services as deemed appropriate (including PT and OT)
Palliative Care
Though Sakakawea Medical Center, Palliative Care is specialized medical care for people living with a serious illness. This type of care is focused on relief from the symptoms and stress of a serious illness. The goal is to improve quality of life for both the patient and the family. It is appropriate for any age at any stage of illness and can be provided along with curative treatment.
Hospice Program
Through Sakakawea Medical Center, Hospice is a program of care and support for patients and families coping with terminal illness. The program is designed to enhance and expand the existing support system of the family. With the assistance of hospice, families are able to be closer to their loved one and assist with more of the necessary care. The program advocates home care, with pain management and symptom control, enabling the patient to have the best quality of life possible within their disease limits.
