Darlene White received her Bachelor of Philosophy degree from the University of North Dakota in 1969. She did graduate work in Sociology at Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, IL where she had a teaching assistantship. She returned to ND in 1973 and worked at the State Hospital in Jamestown while she completed Addiction Counseling classes through Jamestown College and NDSU.
She worked as an inpatient Addiction Counselor at the State Hospital. She retired with 32 years of service in 2005 and moved to Hazen in 2006, where she has continued to work part time as an addiction counselor. She does alcohol/drug evaluations and individual, group and family addiction counseling at Coal Country. She has been a member of the North Dakota Addiction Counselor’s Association from its inception to the present and has also been secretary and President of the organization. This includes membership in the National Association of Alcoholism and Addiction Counselors Association. She has been in recovery since 1975 and is actively involved in the recovery community.
